Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 26, 2026
TripLinker ("TripLinker", "we", "us") is an app that helps travelers find partners for their trips. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the TripLinker app for iOS and Android and this website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. TripLinker is operated from Israel.
In short
- We collect what we need to run the app: your account and profile, your trip posts, your messages, and basic app diagnostics.
- We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- You can delete your account from inside the app at any time.
- TripLinker is for adults aged 18 and over only.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your email address and name. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the name and email address that the provider shares with us (with Apple, this may be a private relay address).
- Profile information: profile photo, gender, date of birth, bio, country, and preferred language.
- Trip posts: destination country and city, travel dates, the kind of travel partner you are looking for, description, interests, budget range, and an optional photo.
- Messages: the text, photos and videos you send to other users in chat, and your location if you choose to share it in a conversation.
- Reports and blocks: the posts and users you report or block, and the reason you give.
- Bug reports and contact requests: if you send us a bug report or contact us, the description you write, an optional screenshot, diagnostic logs, the app version and basic device information.
Information collected automatically
- Country detection: to pre-fill your country when you sign up, the app looks up the approximate country of your IP address using ipapi.co. On Android it may also read the country code of your SIM card. This is used only to suggest your country, not to track where you are.
- Location: the app accesses your device's location only when you choose to share your location in a chat, and only while the app is open. It is sent only to the person you are chatting with.
- Push notification token: if you allow notifications, we store a device token so we can notify you about new messages and activity. The token is removed when you sign out.
- App usage and crash data: we use Google Firebase Analytics to understand which screens and features are used, and Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports. This includes device model, operating system and app version, and a random app-instance identifier. We do not collect your device's advertising identifier.
- Website analytics: this website uses Google Analytics to count visits.
How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and let you sign in.
- To show your profile and trip posts to other users so you can find travel partners, and to let you message each other.
- To send you the notifications you have enabled, such as new messages.
- To keep the community safe: automatically filtering objectionable content, reviewing reports, and blocking or removing users who break our Terms of Use.
- To fix bugs, prevent crashes and improve the app.
- To comply with the law and respond to lawful requests.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
What other users can see
Your name, profile photo, age (not your date of birth), gender, bio and country, together with your trip posts and their photos, are visible to other TripLinker users. Messages are visible only to the people in that conversation. Anything you share with another user can be saved or passed on by them, so please share carefully.
Service providers
We use the following providers to run TripLinker. They process data on our behalf and only for the purposes described in this policy:
- Supabase: sign-in and our database, hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany).
- Amazon Web Services: storage of the photos and videos you upload, hosted in Israel.
- Google Firebase: app analytics and crash reporting.
- Apple and Google: Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In if you choose them, and delivery of push notifications.
- Expo: routing push notifications to Apple and Google, and delivering app updates.
- ipapi.co: approximate country lookup from your IP address when you sign up.
Some of these providers may process data outside Israel and the European Union, including in the United States.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or when we believe in good faith that it is necessary to protect the safety of our users or the public, to investigate misuse of TripLinker, or to enforce our Terms of Use.
Safety and moderation
- We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users.
- Profiles, trip posts and messages are automatically checked against a list of prohibited terms, and matching content is rejected.
- You can report any post or user and block any user from inside the app. Blocking a user hides their posts from you and stops messages between you.
- We review reports within 24 hours, remove content that breaks our Terms of Use, and remove the users who posted it. Posts reported by several users are hidden automatically until they are reviewed.
How long we keep your data
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. Analytics and crash data are kept by Google Firebase for a limited period in line with its retention settings.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app: open Profile and choose Delete account. When you do:
- Your account, profile, trip posts, conversations and messages, notifications, saved posts, blocks and reports are deleted from our database.
- If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke TripLinker's access to your Apple ID.
- We keep a limited archived copy of your profile and trip posts to deal with safety reports, fraud and legal claims about past activity. It is not visible to anyone in the app.
- Photos and videos you uploaded are no longer shown in the app. To have the stored files permanently erased, email us from the address linked to your account.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to receive a copy of it. You can edit your profile in the app at any time, and for any other request email us at the address below. You may also complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Privacy Protection Authority in Israel or the supervisory authority in your EU country.
Security
Your data is sent over encrypted connections, access to it is restricted by row-level security in our database, and photos and videos sent in chat are available only through short-lived signed links. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Age requirement
TripLinker is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will delete their account. If you believe a minor is using TripLinker, please contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we may also let you know in the app.
